Isaac Albéniz (1860 – 1909)
Asturias
Asturias - the composer Isaac Albéniz called it Leyenda - was written for piano. The name change was made posthumously by the German publisher Hofmeister, who included it in the "Complete Edition" of the "Suite española". Contrary to the name change, this composition was not attributed to the traditional folk music of the Asturias region, but rather comes from the Andalusian flamenco tradition.
It is not possible to transcribe this piece exactly for the flute. This arrangement comes from the Spanish flutist Francisco López.
