Partita
Introduzione — Gavotta — Minuetto — Sarabanda — Giga
Born in 1944 in Vratimov near Ostrava (Czech Republic). He learned to play the piano and violin as a young child. He wrote his first composition at the age of six. He attended the conservatory in Ostrava and then studied at the Academy of Arts in Prague. He also trained as a conductor in Prague.
For several years he worked at the small theater "Viola" as a composer and pianist. After that he returned to Ostrava, where he worked as a music director and editor at the Czech Radio and Television, and at the same time he became a professor at the local conservatory. He received several awards for his works. Very often his compositions are influenced by Czech folk music, but this does not prevent him from writing in a neo-classical, 12-tone or avant-garde style.
